Graham and Marlene Manvell
had a dream - to open a chain of or restaurants around
Australia.
Their dream is coming true.
Graham is a chef of world renown. He started his apprenticeship
in Australia, and has worked around the globe in places
such as the London Savoy, the Sebel Townhouse, Mount
Lofty House and Powerhouse International.
He is one of the most highly skilled and awarded chefs
in Australia, and his career achievements are remarkable:
He was a member of the highest-ranking Australian National
Team to compete in the Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt.
The team won a Gold Medal in the coveted "Restaurant
of Nations" section.
He won several prestigious International Medals in Germany,
Luxembourg and Singapore and has gained over thirty
National Culinary Competition Medals.
He is very highly regarded as a judge and has gained
International Standing with contacts far and wide, he
travels regularly to major competitions and trade shows
to keep in touch with current trends. Graham was the
founding secretary of the Australian Culinary Federation.
Marlene's background is very noteworthy, and she too
has worked overseas in the service industry. Her knowledge
and experience gained from having worked overseas is
impressive and she has a superb background in professional
hospitality within Australia.
Graham and Marlene set up Jumbuck Cottage in Tamworth
during August 1990. It is a credit to their skill and
hard work that Jumbuck Cottage was recognized as the
place to dine for fine food, wine and excellent service.
Their popular 4 Star Guesthouse was one of the latest
additions to their exciting, and fast growing corporation.
This has now been sold to expand the sSs BBQ Barn Steakhouse
chain.
The first of the Saloons opened in November 1993 and
is forging ahead in competitive markets. The strategy
and the concept behind the sSs BBQ Barns Steakhouse
has been to cater for a very broad market - families,
bachelors, young people, more mature people, traveliers
and business people all feel welcome.
The dream has become reality, as more sSs BBQ Barns
Steakhouses are opened, in what will become known around
Australia, as the home grown chain of steakhouses and
BBQ Barns offering excellent customer service with a
little escapism thrown in for good measure.
